Anuga – Innovations Are on Top of the List

“Taste the Future” is the slogan accompanying the most important food and drink trade fair of the year, expecting over 155,000 trade visitors from all over the world. As it has always been the case, Anuga 2013 not only keeps a close eye, but also promotes the most significant product innovations revolving around the food sector.

Expect a wide range of novelties to be on display at the 32nd edition of Anuga, taking place between October 5th-9th 2013 in Cologne. Whether it’s new ingredients, packaging, concepts or flavors, they will all be reunited under the “taste13” section at the trade fair, a place where any of the 6700 exhibitors coming from over 100 countries can present new solutions and ideas. As the central showcase for innovation at Anuga, the special show taste 13 will once again bring together the best new products, trends and future-oriented concepts. This is where visitors will be able to get an overview of the top new products at Anuga 2013 that were selected by an international jury of trade journalists. The jury’s criteria are originality and quality, as well as impressive marketing ideas or packaging. Other decisive factors may include convenience, an effective focus on one of the latest trends or an appeal to specific target groups. The products that have been selected will be displayed in an attractive exhibition on the Boulevard North and will also be presented on the Anuga website. Since the beginning of June, all Anuga exhibitors have had the opportunity to place their new products in the Anuga database, which also served as an application for taste 13, since all of the innovations listed here were automatically entered into the competition and also kept in the trade show data base, to be consulted online, on the event website.

Kick-off for 2013

Günther H. Oettinger, Member of the European Commission and Commissioner for Energy, and Dr. Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank, will hold the opening speeches and be the guests of honour at the opening ceremony of the 32nd Anuga on 5 October 2013. The Anuga opening ceremony traditionally serves as the beginning of the world’s largest and most important trade fair platform for the international food industry. At Anuga Frozen Food, which is one of the ten Anuga trade shows, frozen food and ice cream will be in the spotlight. With approximately 450 suppliers from about 50 countries, the trade show occupies both levels of Hall 4, with a gross exhibition space of 27,500 m². The most important international platform for marketing frozen food products is used by a range of companies. They include Agrarfrost, Ambach, Apetito, Ardo, Aviko, Crop’s, Erlenbacher Backwaren, Fish&More, Fresystem, Gunnar Dafgard, Hasa, Lamb Weston, Limburg Patisserie, Lutosa, Mydibel, Neuhauser, Pan Expert, Pickenpack, Pinguin, Salomon, Schne-frost, Stritzinger, Süd-Eis, Surgital and Wernsing. In 2013 Anuga will once again occupy the entire exhibition centre in Cologne covering a gross exhibition space of 284,000 m². Trade shows with related characteristics and temperature sensitive products – for example, Anuga Meat, Anuga Dairy, Anuga Frozen Food and Anuga Chilled & Fresh Food – will be located in adjacent halls and can be visited any of the five days, beginning 10AM until 7PM, or 6PM on the last day.
