Brill Inc. – a subsidiary of CSM Bakery Solutions – has ceased manufacturing at its Atlanta frozen facility, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
240 employees have lost their jobs in the process, according to a noticed filed with the Georgia Department of Labor. The closure will not impact Brill’s other local operation located in Tucker, which will continue operating as usual.
According to a company statement, the decision to suspend manufacturing at this facility comes after a comprehensive review of manufacturing capabilities, and the determination that Brill can better serve its customers more efficiently from elsewhere in its supply chain. The factory used to manufacture a variety of baked goods products including cookies, decorated cakes, and laminated dough.
Brill also stated it will provide affected employees with a comprehensive package of transition benefits which includes severance pay, health care continuation and outplacement assistance.
