Gulfood Manufacturing Prepares for Largest Edition Yet


The increase in innovative manufacturing technologies has led to the expansion of Gulfood Manufacturing, to include all sectors of the food and beverage industries, including frozen foodstuffs. For more on this, I talked to Mark Napier, show director.

What should visitors expect for this edition of Gulfood Manufacturing?

Gulfood Manufacturing 2019 is the sixth edition of the largest food and beverage processing and packaging show in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Visitors can expect to see the latest innovations that are impacting what equipment food producers are now choosing as they race to increase efficiency and costs in a fiercely competitive F&B marketplace, while meeting ever rising consumer demands for healthier ingredients, reduced food waste, more environmentally friendly packaging, food sustainability and food safety. The food manufacturing industry in the MEA region is undergoing a major evolution and visitors to Gulfood Manufacturing will gain invaluable insights into how to respond to changing market dynamics and consumer preferences, while complying with increasingly strict regulations.

This show perhaps more than any in the series so far, will showcase the complete reinvention the the global  industry, leveraging Dubai’s position as a business incubation hub and gateway between East and West as it welcome some of the biggest names from across the industry. Participants such as Firmenich, the world’s largest privately owned fragrance and flavor company, and Swiss flavors manufacturing powerhouse Givaudan demonstrate how the showed has matured and continues to remain at the forefront of industry evolution.

Which are some of the novelties this edition presents?

Gulfood Manufacturing 2019 will feature a Packaging Showcase, which will go some way to addressing demand from worldwide manufacturers for more sustainable and efficient packaging solutions. The Showcase will shine the spotlight on the latest innovations in FMCG packaging including spoilage sensors, smart caps, customized packaging, hologram technology, virtual reality and personalized packaging. As innovators in the industry, we constantly seek to enhance experiences for visitors and exhibitors and this year we have introduce the Manufacturing Advice Centre, an initiative from our Strategic Partner, the UAE Food & Beverage Manufacturers Business Group. The advice center will be staged in the Trade Centre Arena from 10am to 5pm across all three days of the show, between October 29-31.

Furthermore, the Gulfood Manufacturing Innovation Tours will provide deep insights into artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain and robotics. We have teamed up with major food processing players to take attendees on a journey that will show you real-life innovations at work inside some of the region’s top, award-winning food factories. Gulfood Manufacturing Industry Excellence Awards, designed to inspire, will reward best practice and innovation across the food manufacturing value chain. Judged by a panel of industry experts, all shortlisted entries will be display on the show floor throughout the three days.

We have also implemented an Ingredients Lab Step this year, where visitors can witness demonstrations and attend masterclasses on the multi-sensory experience of ingredients, with some of the biggest names in flavors.

Please provide details about other noteworthy events that will take place during event.

We have three key events co-located alongside Gulfood Manufacturing — and all four together provide a well-rounded overview of the wide food production industry and where it is heading. The co-located events are Private Label and Licensing Middle East, which is the MENA region’s first exhibition bringing together food and non-food FMCGs, with 130 global participants from 50 countries ready to do business and explore new wide-spread opportunities in private labelling, brand licensing and contract manufacturing.

SEAFEX Middle East, which is the only professional seafood event for Middle East, Africa and Asia, will explore how growing demand for seafood in the Middle East is creating new business opportunities for established names and new market entries. yummex ME, the region’s leading international trade fair for the confectionery and snacks market, will explore change in consumer preferences for healthy, convenient, on-the-go snacks and innovative alternative.
