Fish international will spotlight the latest market and product trends as the global seafood industry responds to shifting consumer priorities and structural change.
With high-protein diets continuing to gain traction, seafood has consolidated its role as a cornerstone of modern nutrition. Fish, once viewed primarily as a raw commodity, is now increasingly embedded in broader dietary concepts that emphasize health, convenience and sustainability.
Reflecting this evolution, fish international will present a wide-ranging portfolio of products, concepts and innovations from 22 to 24 February 2026 at Messe Bremen, offering trade visitors a comprehensive overview of global market developments and technologies, from sustainable aquaculture and advanced packaging to novel algae-based products.
The fair will once again bring together market leaders, producers, retailers and technology providers from across Europe and beyond. Several regions will return with dedicated international pavilions, including Xunta de Galicia, representing one of Europe’s leading seafood regions, and Food from Denmark, which will highlight the breadth of Danish food innovation.
Established industry players are expected to provide a strong backbone to the exhibition. Deutsche See will unveil a new stand concept featuring a prominent live stage, while Transgourmet Seafood will reaffirm its position as the event’s largest exhibitor.
Alongside these heavyweights, a range of companies will introduce new perspectives, including Aquapurna / Gamba Zamba, which is pioneering large-scale shrimp production in central Germany; Visafslag Urk, one of Europe’s most important fish auctions and a key industry hub; and the International Trade Centre, which will host a delegation from Fiji presenting premium seafood products.
Innovation will be further emphasized through two dedicated formats designed to give visibility to young companies. The Young Innovators pavilion, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, focuses on German start-ups introducing new products or processes to the market.
For companies not eligible for public funding, the Newcomer Area offers a cost-effective entry point to present products to a professional audience.
At the center of the event is the Forum, which serves as the fair’s intellectual hub. Included with the exhibition ticket, accessible without registration and primarily conducted in German, the Forum addresses current industry challenges under three overarching themes: EU regulations, consumption trends and the future of fish supply.
Over three days, experts will examine new regulatory requirements, including the implications of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, analyze seafood consumption and sales trends in Germany, and discuss how to secure reliable, sustainable and resilient supply chains. Designed as an interactive platform, the Forum places strong emphasis on panel discussions and audience participation.
Well-established formats will also return. At the joint stand of the Bremerhaven Fishery Harbour Management Company, Fischereihafenfunk, or Fishery Harbour Radio, will again provide expert insights at the intersection of science and industry. The popular Schleppnetzparty, or Trawl Net Party, is also scheduled to return, combining live music from Watch-your-Step with a seafood buffet showcasing premium products from exhibitors.
Running alongside fish international is Gastro Ivent, the marketplace for gastronomy, hotels, contract catering and retail that has been held in parallel since 2014.
