Samuel Schär has assumed the role of chief executive officer of Bühler Group, effective January 1, following an announcement made in April 2025.
He succeeds Stefan Scheiber, who is expected to be proposed as the new chairman of the board of directors at the company’s Annual General Meeting in February 2026.
“More than ever, Bühler has an important role to play in the sustainable transformation of the food, feed, and mobility industries. I am excited to lead the company into its next stage of development. Our focus will remain on creating value for our customers, driving meaningful innovation, and growing our business sustainably. Together with our global teams, we will continue to build strong partnerships and deliver solutions that enable our customers’ success,” Samuel Schär said at the time of the leadership handover.
His appointment signals continuity and stability for Bühler’s employees, customers and partners. Schär joined the Swiss technology group two decades ago, initially to establish its nanotechnology business unit. He later led the Grinding and Dispersing business for several years before joining the group executive board in 2013. Over the following decade, he headed the Advanced Materials segment, subsequently assuming responsibility for the global services and sales organization. He holds a degree in physics from EPFL Lausanne in Switzerland.
Stefan Scheiber, who is set to be nominated as chairman at the February 2026 Annual General Meeting, brings a 35-year career at Bühler. He has spent two decades in group management roles across multiple business areas and served as chief executive officer for the past 10 years.
Calvin Grieder, the current chairman of the board of directors, will step down at the Annual General Meeting after 25 years in senior leadership positions at Bühler, including terms as chief executive officer, board member and chairman.
