The frozen food market continues to grow: according to a forecast by the German Frozen Food Institute (dti), the sales of frozen products in 2017 will again increase by 2% in Germany
Sales of frozen food could rise from 3.632 million tons to 3,704 tons in 2017. The figures include the sales volumes of frozen products in retail, home services and the out-of-home market. According to the dti forecast for 2017, the turnover of frozen products in Germany will grow by 3% to EUR 14.2bn (2016: EUR 13.805bn).
According to dti, the annual per capita consumption of frozen products will increase from 45.4 kilograms in 2016 to over 46.3 kilograms 2017. The increasing demand for frozen products is fueled by the overall decline in home cooking and increasing consumption outside the home.
