Artisan ice cream maker Sotiris Tsichlopoulos created one of Greece’s best-known dairy-based ice cream brands. Now, turning to the plant-based trend, Tsichlopoulos presented Wildgood, a brand born after an eight-year development. The new vegan ice cream brand Wildgood is backed by celebrity chef Bobby Flay, according to a press release.
Inspired by the Mediterranean diet, the first-of-its-kind vegan ice cream is made using Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which helps give it a creamy texture. Wildgood is launching with eight flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Mango, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Hazelnut, Pistachio, Coffee, and Sea Salt Caramel.
For Wildgood’s ice cream, the olive oil is pressed on his family’s orchards using centuries-old techniques and then combined with ingredients such as organic ground coffee, Alphonso mango, or Oregon hazelnuts for flavor.
Wildgood products are available at retailers such as Shoprite, Wegmans, and Harris Teeter starting on April 5, and for online purchase starting May 1.
