According to a recent survey by Yahoo Inc, which interviewed over 1000 people around the USA, 41% of Americans choose ice cream as their favorite dessert, followed by 20% choosing cake, 11% cookies and 9% fruit.
While ice cream is everyone’s favorite, 13- to 17-year olds are particular fans. That age group is significantly more likely to say that ice cream is its preferred dessert relative to other age groups.
13-17 (centennials): 56% say ice cream is their favorite
18-34 (millennials): 38% say ice cream is their favorite
35+: 39% say ice cream is their favorite dessert
With regards to flavors, chocolate is ranked No. 1 with 16% of votes, followed by cookies & cream with 13%, and vanilla 12%. Other top flavors rated were cookie dough and mint chocolate chip with 11% each, strawberry with 9% and coffee with 6%.
