SIGEP WORLD Sets Sights on International Growth, Unveils Expanded Vision

In a strategic move signaling the evolving landscape of global culinary innovation, SIGEP WORLD is preparing for its 2025 edition, positioning itself as a critical nexus for international foodservice professionals.

Announced at the Italian Embassy in Berlin, the upcoming expo promises to be more than a traditional trade show. With an expanded footprint of 138,000 square meters and representation from 160 countries, the event represents a significant inflection point for the global out-of-home food industry.

“We’re not just showcasing products; we’re creating a global marketplace of ideas,” said Marco Carniello, chief business officer of Italian Exhibition Group (IEG). The event, scheduled for January 18-22, 2025, in Rimini, Italy, will introduce unprecedented breadth to its traditional offerings.

Market intelligence underscores the sector’s resilience. Despite a decline in physical point-of-sale visits, foodservice spending has surged 8% compared to pre-pandemic levels. Circana, a leading industry advisory firm, projects an average annual consumption growth of 3.5% over the next two years, with particular strength in pastry, gelato, and coffee segments.

A notable innovation for 2025 is SIGEP Vision, a global observatory developed in collaboration with international research institutes. This platform aims to provide comprehensive insights into industry transformations and emerging challenges.

The expo will debut several groundbreaking initiatives, including:

  • A Sustainability District focusing on coffee and chocolate supply chains
  • Taste of Tomorrow, featuring bio-architectural gelato parlor concepts
  • A Bean-to-Bar Area showcasing chocolate production’s art and science

“We’re adding Pizza as a complementary segment,” explained Flavia Morelli, group exhibition manager. “This expansion strengthens our positioning, particularly for professionals from emerging markets with rapidly growing consumption.”

The event has attracted significant international attention, with 3,000 foreign buyers expected and 1,200 international brands set to exhibit. Key industry leaders, including representatives from the German Pastry Chefs’ Association, will be in attendance.

Held in Rimini, a destination known for its hospitality infrastructure, SIGEP WORLD continues to evolve from a regional trade show to a global platform for culinary innovation and business networking.

As the foodservice landscape continues to transform, SIGEP WORLD 2025 appears poised to be a critical inflection point for global industry professionals.
