Wheyhey Sugar-Free Ice Cream at Tesco

Starting this month, Wheyhey – the award winning high protein, sugar free ice cream will be available on Tesco.com for customers living in London before being stocked in selected Tesco stores shortly after. The distribution of Wheyhey ice cream in Tesco marks a significant breakthrough in the UK for the brand which was established in 2013 and has built a foundation in the health & wellness channel.

Greg Duggan, co-founder of Wheyhey added: “Our high protein, sugar-free ice cream offer something completely different to the current offering in supermarket freezers. Our goal is to change what it means for consumers to eat truly great tasting healthy food and this listing is the beginning.”

Adom Dennis, buying manager for frozen foods at Tesco said: “We’re really pleased to be able to offer customers Wheyhey ice cream. It’s a really innovative product which we believe offers customers something new and exciting.”

According to Wheyhey reps, the product is made from the whey protein isolate, which is a product created in the cheese making process; it’s 100% natural and easily and rapidly digested. It is sweetened by Xylitol, which is a natural sweetener that does not impact on blood sugar levels and is recommended by dentists. A 150ml tub of ice cream has only 4g of fat and provides as much protein as a medium sized chicken breast, with the 150 calories per pot being derived mainly from protein rather than empty sugars and fats.
