The Foodservice Community Comes Together at INTERNORGA

Positioned as the premier trade fair for the foodservice and hospitality sectors, INTERNORGA 2025 promises to be a hub for innovation, inspiration, and strategic dialogue.

From March 14 to 18, the spotlight will be on emerging trends that could have lasting implications for foodservice might operate in the years ahead.

One of the most significant trends in the landscape of bakeries is the rise of portable, on-the-go snacks and vegan alternatives. Companies are responding with products designed to meet these evolving tastes.

Ditsch, a longstanding participant at INTERNORGA, has made waves with its introduction of vegan Pretzel Bites, designed for maximum convenience—ready to eat within minutes. Bakerman, another exhibitor specializing in high-quality frozen baked goods, plans to debut a range of snacks featuring bold, unconventional flavor combinations.

Technology, particularly digitalization and artificial intelligence, is playing an increasingly pivotal role in reshaping the operational landscape. For bakeries and confectioners grappling with labor shortages, digital solutions are more than just efficiency tools—they are strategic necessities.

Companies like Lightspeed and 42 GmbH will present advanced point-of-sale systems and human resource management applications designed to streamline workflows and enhance customer engagement.

Kitchen technologies in the spotlight

Housed in Halls B6 and B7, the ‘Kitchen Technology and Equipment’ exhibition area is expected to be a focal point, known for debuting products that redefine operational efficiency and culinary excellence. National and international exhibitors will showcase technologies designed to optimize professional kitchens—ranging from automation and energy-efficient appliances to resource conservation systems and state-of-the-art hygiene solutions.

A key theme this year is the growing role of smart kitchen solutions powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud-based platforms. Companies like Rational AG are set to demonstrate how connected devices can streamline kitchen operations, reduce energy consumption, and address persistent staffing shortages.

By automating routine tasks and optimizing workflows, these technologies not only improve efficiency but also alleviate pressure on overburdened kitchen staff, a critical advantage amid the ongoing labor crunch. Energy efficiency remains a top priority, particularly as businesses contend with volatile utility costs and heightened environmental scrutiny.

MKN and Meiko are among the exhibitors presenting appliances equipped with advanced heat recovery systems and water-saving features. Hygiene and safety are also front and center, with companies like Hobart unveiling automated, self-cleaning systems designed to uphold rigorous sanitary standards. In an industry where food safety compliance is non-negotiable, such innovations are not just conveniences, they are operational imperatives.

More things to look forward to

Adding to the dynamic atmosphere of INTERNORGA 2025 is the relocation of Germany’s premier culinary competition, the NEXT CHEF AWARD, to the ‘Kitchen Technology and Equipment’ exhibition area.

This strategic move places rising culinary talents in direct proximity to both renowned chefs and leading technology providers, fostering an environment ripe for inspiration and collaboration.

“INTERNORGA is the heartbeat of the industry,” says Matthias Balz, director of INTERNORGA. “By integrating the NEXT CHEF AWARD into the kitchen technology halls, we’re not just showcasing products—we’re facilitating meaningful exchanges that drive the industry forward.”

Beyond product showcases, INTERNORGA 2025 will host industry-wide dialogue through interactive forums such as the OPEN STAGE and networking events like the OFF THE RECORD Afterwork Lounge. Spanning 11 halls, the fair offers a comprehensive view of the trends, technologies, and strategies that aim to redefine the future of the bakery and confectionery sectors.
