Tong Engineering, UK vegetable handling equipment manufacturer, has announced the completed acquisition of Terry Johnson Ltd based in Holbeach, Lincolnshire.
Based on long-term synergies and a respectful working relationship, the acquisition is a logical move for both firms and is well aligned with Tong Engineering’s growth ambitions.
Terry Johnson, the company’s founder, first sold the Todd sugar beet cleaner loader and the Bettison line of wheel equipment when Terry Johnson Ltd. was founded in 1986. The whole Johnson family—Terry’s wife Betty, daughter Mandy, and son Paul—was employed by the company by 1987. The business bought the facility and product line of the well-known Swift Lift line of conveyors and elevators in 1994. The business behind Swift Lift handling equipment established a reputation for producing premium mobile conveying and elevating equipment supported by first-rate customer service by putting a strong emphasis on family values and maintaining a devoted team.
In addition to Teresa Morgan, the existing director of finance at Tong Engineering, Edward Tong will take on the job of managing director for both companies. Richard Knighton, the sales manager for Tong Engineering, will bring his extensive industry knowledge to the new purchase and serve as general manager, overseeing the company’s product and commercial divisions. The Swift Lift line’s aftersales offering will be expanded by Tong’s specialized aftersales section, TongAssist.
