Anuga Frozen Food, the frozen food industry’s largest trade fair and one of ten events under the Anuga umbrella, is set to return in 2025 with record participation.
More than 650 exhibitors have already registered, with 93% coming from outside Germany—a sign of the fair’s growing global reach.
The Cologne exhibition will feature a lineup of industry heavyweights, including Belgium’s Ardo, Germany’s Schne-Frost, Italy’s Surgital and Roncadin, Belgium’s Lutosa and Greenyard Frozen, and GoodLife Foods/Izico Nederlands from the Netherlands. National group stands from Egypt, China, France, Greece, Italy and Turkey further highlight the international flavor of the event.
The surge in demand has pushed organizers to expand floor space. Halls dedicated to frozen foods were fully booked early, prompting the addition of roughly 400 square meters from the fine food section in Hall 4.1, compared with 2023.
One of the fair’s focal points will be recognition of innovation. On October 6, the German Frozen Food Institute (dti) and trade publication Lebensmittel Praxis will present the “Tiefkühl-Star” Award, honoring companies for product innovation, quality and market-oriented concepts. A day later, the FROZEN! dti Innovation Award 2025 will showcase forward-looking frozen food concepts under the theme “Frozen Food meets Future.” Marking 70 years of frozen food in Germany, three teams will pitch live to a jury and audience before the award ceremony on October 7.
The exhibition will also host the 2nd International Frozen Food Conference, jointly organized by the International Frozen Food Network and the Global Cold Chain Alliance. Scheduled for October 7, the conference will focus on food security, sustainable logistics and the global frozen food market, drawing participants from industry, retail, logistics and government.
The momentum reflects broader market trends. Euromonitor, Anuga’s research partner, forecasts steady mid-single-digit growth for the global frozen food industry through 2030. Europe accounts for about 40% of market value, but Asia-Pacific is leading in growth, driven by improvements in cold chain infrastructure. China, in particular, is expected to post above-average expansion.
Consumer demand is being fueled by convenience, flexible portion sizes, heightened price sensitivity and increasing awareness of the sustainability advantages of frozen products. Categories such as ready meals, pizza, vegetables, potato-based snacks, seafood, baked goods and desserts continue to drive retail growth. Importantly, usage levels remain higher than before the pandemic.
With record participation and a program emphasizing both innovation and market expansion, Anuga Frozen Food 2025 is positioning itself as the global hub for the frozen food industry, linking retailers with the out-of-home sector.
