Harry’s Fresh Foods, a company that produces frozen and refrigerated entrées, sides, soups, and desserts, will close its Nashville processing facility and cut 135 jobs in the process, a new report from Nashville Business Journal has revealed.
The 200,000-square-foot plant first opened its gates in October 2016 and was used to produce branded and private-label products for retail, industrial, and food-service costumers. The expansion was backed-up by the state which pledged USD1m of FastTrack grants to Harry’s. According to Scott Harrison, a spokesman for the state Department of Economic and Community Development, the state can recover USD975,000 of the funds. Under the “accountability agreement” Harry’s previously signed, the company is required to pay back USD950,000 of the grant it received.
Portland-based Harry’s Fresh Foods was founded in 1977 and it’s a subsidiary of JFC Foods L.L.C. which is owned by the Joshua Green Corp. investment company.
