Burritos by Mex-Al

Influences of Mexican cuisine and gastronomy can be found worldwide today. One discovers influences of the original cuisine of Mexico with traditional Indian and Spanish influence as well as Mexican-American developments of the last 100 years. It is well known that the peoples of Mexico used to wrap food in corn Tortillas since ancient times. The Tortillas were often filled with chilies, tomatoes, avocados or meat. It is also known that the peoples of southwestern US made tortillas filled with beans and meat sauce as well.

Even though the origin of the Burritos as such is not known, it is believed that they originated in northern Mexico in the late 19th century, and that the modern Burrito is the result of the fusion of culinary traditions of northern Mexico and southwestern United States. Today Burritos are one of the most popular examples of Tex-Mex cuisine.  They consist of a flour tortilla filled with one or more ingredients that range from meat or fish, potatoes, rice, beans, cheese, chilies to salad, guacamole and cream. Once wrapped they are either baked, fried or smothered with sauce. These countless possibilities make them a very versatile dish.

MEX-AL produces burritos with 6 different fillings, 80 g and 50 g, respectively.

VERDURITOS, 80 g with vegetable filling (now with new improved recipe)

CHILIBURRITOS, 80 g filled with chili con carne

POLLORITOS, 80 g with spicy turkey meat and vegetables

WESTERN BURRITOS, 80g with smoky beef filling

MOLE BURRITOS, 80 g with chili chocolate and chicken filling

BURRITOS DULCES, 50 g with fruity Caribbean filling of mango and banana

The burritos are IQF frozen and individually removable. Shortest recovery times are achieved, for example, by heating the frozen burritos in the microwave for about 20 seconds (to preheat the filling) and then deep frying them for about 3 to 4 minutes.

Frozen burritos offer the restaurateur the opportunity to create a varied menu, with short preparation times and precisely calculable use of goods. They can be used as appetizers, they can be part of a light snack, they offer a variety of options in the design of main courses, and the sweet burritos are very popular for dessert creations.
