Hobart – a company that specializes in premier foodservice equipment – announced it recently scored the iF DESIGN AWARD 2019 in the Product category. The distinctions were established in 1953 and are conferred once a year by the iF International Forum Design GmbH.
In the product category, Hobart’s under-counter dishwashers – developed in partnership with the Ottenwälder und Ottenwälder agency – stood out due to their design which enables intuitive operation achieved via the external single button called Visiotronic-Touch.
The international jury made up of 60 design experts, assessed appearance, as well as customers’ user experience when choosing the winners. Other evaluation criteria included uniqueness of products, the degree of innovation, and the benefits in practice.
“In the catering trade, time pressure and stress are part of everyday work. For this reason, it is essential that the dishwasher eases the workload of the staff as much as possible. High operator comfort is required to avoid the faulty operation and to keep the time needed for instruction as short as possible,” said Harald Disch, director Ware Wash Engineering Europe & Global New Technologies at Hobart.
Hobart is a subsidiary of the US Illinois Tool Works (ITW) Group. The company employs around 6,900 staff members across the world, 1,000 of them in Germany.
