According to the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW) which recently released its Global Top 25, Americold Logistics is the largest temperature-controlled warehousing and logistic provider with 980.172 million cubic feet (28.755 million cubic meters) followed closely by Lineage Logistics with 964.931 million cubic feet (27.323 million cubic meters). However, as the press release notes Lineage Logistics’ recent acquisition of Preferred Freezer Services which added a total of 390 million cubic feet (11.04 million cubic meters) is not reflected in this list as the transaction is not expected to be finalized until later this year.
At the same time, the consortium, which is a core partner of the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) also announced the North American Top 25 List and the list of the largest operators in Latin American and the Caribbean, as well as Europe. The lists are assembled based on the total capacity of temperature-controlled space in IARW membership.
In total, IARW members currently own or operate 5.54 billion cubic feet (156.83 million cubic meters). Driven by growth and M&A (merger & acquisition) activity, the Global Top 25 gained an additional 399.6 million cubic feet (11.315 million cubic meters).
“We continue to see the evolution of the Top 25 list as a result of consideration due to mergers and acquisition in the industry. Each year, the company rankings shift with new companies coming on the list, including companies that didn’t even exist a few years ago,” said GGCA President & CEO Corey Rosenbusch.
The Global Top 25 currently operates 4.24 billion cubic feet (120.15 million cubic meters). The North American Top 25 operates 3.17 billion cubic feet (88.49 million cubic meters). The European Top 10 operates 791.26 million cubic feet (22.40 million cubic meters). The Latin American Top 10 operates 241.67 million cubic feet (6.84 million cubic meters).
