More and more consumers are switching to a vegan or flexitarian diet, and in response to this trend, UK supermarket giant Iceland Foods recently announced it has expanded its range of plant-based options by adding two vegan pizza products.
According to the company, the new No Cheese Houmous Pizza and No Cheese Italian Garden Pizza arrive just in time for Veganuary in the UK.
The first option features a houmous sauce base and includes kale and tomatoes toppings, while the Garden variety has a tomato base and it’s topped with mushrooms, broccoli, and tomatoes. The pizzas are cooked in wood-chip fired ovens and boast a stone baked base.
“After the success of our vegan range and the surge in demand for plant-based options for customers, we are thrilled to be offering vegan pizzas. We source our ingredients from the best supplies and ensure all of our pizzas are made using traditional methods, guaranteeing that even our plant-based pizzas are as authentically Italian as possible,” explained Iceland’s Head Chef, Neil Nurgent.
Prices for the two products are kept quite affordable, as the supermarket chain is selling either of the two vegan pizza options for GBP2 (USD2.55). Customers can find the new food items in store locations, as well as online.
