Welsh Frozen Food Company Creates 90 Jobs

KK Fine Foods has begun its factory expansion plans, evaluated at GBP4,2m, which in turn will lead to the creation of 90 new jobs.

KK, which currently employs 230 people on the Deeside Industrial Park, makes frozen ready meals for pubs and wholesalers. Growing demand from supermarkets for supplies of frozen Christmas meals is behind the expansion. The investment includes nearly £2m public funding in grants and loans from the Welsh government and Finance Wales, according to BBC.

Having had consecutive years of growth, KK Fine foods has now commenced on an expansion for its production facility, both to cope with current demand and to future proof the factory. As well as creating more production capacity both for ready meals and protein cooking there has been heavy investment in specialist equipment to supplement the sous vide operation.

“The sous vide process is becoming even more popular with our customers” says Samir Edwards, “so this investment is a vital part of the expansion and we are looking forward to further developing our product range in this area. This is our biggest investment in the business to date and enables us to take full advantage of the growing demand for our high-quality frozen foods,” said Chief executive and founder Leyla Edwards.
