Trade visitors to Internorga, taking place this March 14-19 in Hamburg, will be able to set their sight on a large spectrum of the latest developments in kitchen equipment, as well as be informed about the latest trends that cover the hotel, restaurant and industrial catering fields.
Initiated in 1921, Internorga has been organized since then every year in Hamburg, in March, with more than 1,200 exhibitors lately, both from Germany and other countries, displaying their new equipment, products and solutions for the out-of-home market. “What is so special about Internorga is the way it combines a uniquely varied range of exhibits with presentation of all the trends and innovations for the whole of the out-of-home market”, says Bernd Aufderheide, president and CEO at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.
Important Range of Kitchen Equipment
According to organizers, recent trends concerning professional kitchen operations accentuate the need to buy long-lasting equipment, which is both simple and reliable. “The trend goes from optimized arrangement of kitchen operations, to reduction of consumption levels, to easing staff workload. Buyers are looking for robust equipment without over-sophisticated features; they want the simplest possible operation, rapid maintenance, and a high degree of functionality,” says Claudia Johannsen, project director for Internorga. This however is only the tip of the iceberg, when referring to the equipment novelties presented at the trade fair. Alongside technological news and exhibitor presentations, there is a big program of supporting events, international conferences, award presentations, and innovative side-event concepts.

Europe’s international conference for professional foodservice presents the key drivers in professional food service. This year’s conference places special emphasis on today’s human resources marketing and staff loyalty. Speakers include Jörg Buckmann from Zurich Transport and Stephan von Bülow from the Block Group, Hamburg. The Future Laboratory from London will be there for the second time, giving insights into what customers will demand and expect in 2020. Another important event will be the 40th edition of the German Congress for Institutional Catering – “The Challenges of the Future”, which focuses on the challenges and potentials of the catering sector in the coming years, and creates an appetite for the future. In the past four decades, institutional catering sector succeeded in positioning itself as a major part of the food service market. Finally, the Internorga School Catering Forum – “Concepts and ideas for school meals tomorrow”, the 4th Internorga School Catering Forum, looks at concepts and ideas to make sure children get better school meals in future.
Final of the European Pizza Championship
Visitors can expect even more of this fiery Italian highlight at Internorga 2014 – the best of the best in the pizza bakers’ world will be here in March 2014 for the finals, battling it out live at Internorga for the title of European Champion. Trade visitors interested in competitions will be able to witness the best pizza bakers at work, competing in the finals for the European Champion “Giropizza d’Europa”. The winner can claim the title of Europe’s best pizza baker. The finalists have already demonstrated their talent in the qualifying events – they are the winners of the competitions in Cologne, Rome, Rimini, Paris, Budapest, Amsterdam, Massa Carrara and Riva del Garda. Internorga 2014 will make a big feature of the Italian national dish. The “Giropizza d’Europa” has been awarded for the last ten years, honoring the skills and professional ability of pizzaioli throughout Europe. The Pizza Champions of the “Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli” will also be there throughout the fair, hosting seminars, tests and tastings, to demonstrate ideal preparation and baking, and special subjects such as processing soy.
