Bonduelle in Talks to Acquire Plant in the US

Bonduelle

The French fruit and vegetable processing company Bonduelle has recently revealed it has entered negotiations with US company Seneca Foods Corporation with the intent to acquire its plant in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

The deal would allow Bonduelle to ramp up its frozen food packaging operations. The plant, which was built in 2008, has a capacity of 45,000 tons on 7 packaging lines and employees 140 people. It also offers a large storage capacity. Seneca Foods bought the facility in 2010.

The acquisition will see all the industrial assets, frozen product stocks and employees transferred to Bonduelle. Negotiations are expected to close in the coming weeks.

The acquisition will strengthen Bonduelle’s international footprint, continuing a longstanding track record of successful acquisitions in North America. In 2017, Bonduelle purchased Ready Pac Foods, a California-based producer of salads and fresh-cut produce. Now, the firm is looking to expand its frozen food operations and targeting the US to do so.
