For its 2014 season, SIAL introduced the World Tour: a window on the world of the food trade. 28 journalists from all four corners of the globe, brought together by the SIAL teams, shared their visions and market analysis from 28 countries, with the purpose of unveiling the major retail trends from different markets across the world.
The jury awarded the bronze medal to South African company Burchells Foods, for the Gourmet Africa vegetarian and free from products, with ingredients obtained from sustainable agriculture.
The silver medal went to Japan, for the red soy sauce by Yamasa Corporation, a product packaged in such a way that it does not allow the oxidation of the soy sauce, therefore maintaining its original properties and red color, as opposed to most varieties, which are black.
Finally, the gold medal was won by Austrian producer Nestlé Österreich GmbH for its Maggi Zart Gebraten, a perfect example of a ‘Ready meal’ because a single piece of Papyrus baking paper seasons the meat and replaces the need for oil.
The award ceremony took place during the 50th edition of the largest professional food trade fair in 2014, organized between 19-23 October.
A full review of the event will be available in the next print issue of Frozen Food Europe magazine.
