Baker & Baker, a prominent player in Europe’s bakery sector, is making a bold move in the UK market with the debut of a new double-filled lemon cheesecake doughnut under its premium Black Label range.
The launch, the second in this upscale line, reflects the company’s strategy to capitalize on consumer willingness to pay more for high-end, indulgent products—even amid economic headwinds.
The doughnut is designed to appeal to the growing demand for sophisticated sweet offerings. It boasts a dual filling of creamy curd and vibrant, sweet lemon, encased in a dough base and topped with yogurt icing, accented by a yellow drizzle and shards of white chocolate. Notably, the product contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives and is suitable for vegetarians, adding a cleaner label to its premium positioning.
“We’ve introduced this product to help our customers tap into an opportunity to drive margins in a challenging environment,” said Helen Sinclair, UK marketing manager at Baker & Baker. “Our market research shows that time and time again, consumers are prepared to find the money to spend on a premium treat… but only if it’s truly premium. When life gave Baker & Baker lemons, we have given the world a luxury, double-filled, premium lemon cheesecake doughnut.”
The limited-edition item, part of the company’s thaw-and-serve product line, will be available through September. It follows two recent product introductions: the Victoria muffin and the Black Label salted caramel and nut doughnut, marking the firm’s third new sweet treat in just four months.
Available to foodservice and bakery wholesalers, the lemon cheesecake doughnut has a three-day shelf life when chilled. For optimal taste and quality, it should be consumed the same day if kept at room temperature.
