Fry Launches New Plant-based Mince

Fry Family Foods, an award-winning plant-based brand, has introduced their innovative Shape & Sizzle Mince to Tesco stores across the UK starting September 9.

Emma Herring, head of marketing at Fry’s and LIVEKINDLY Collective UK, states: “Our Shape & Sizzle Mince is pioneering as the first moldable plant-based mince in UK supermarkets. This gives consumers greater flexibility in preparing family favorites. The product is versatile, suitable for dishes like meatballs, burgers, koftas, as well as traditional recipes such as Bolognese, shepherd’s pie, and lasagna.”

Priced at GBP2.50 for 300 grams, Fry’s Shape & Sizzle Mince will be available in the frozen plant-based section. The product is 100% vegan, made from non-GMO soya, high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and protein-rich.

The mince emerged as the top choice in a blind taste test involving over 100 plant-based consumers, outperforming other popular plant-based mince products in taste, texture, and appearance.

Emma Herring adds, “The positive response from taste testers gives us confidence in the product’s appeal to Tesco customers. We hope this encourages more families to try plant-based options or increase their plant-based meal frequency using our Shape & Sizzle Mince.”

Tammy Fry, co-founder of Fry’s, expresses enthusiasm about the new product: “This innovation addresses the strong consumer demand for high-quality, meat-like plant-based mince suitable for various dishes. Initial consumer feedback has been very promising.”

She further emphasizes the importance of food technology innovation in advancing the plant-based meat category. “By offering high-quality, tasty, and versatile options, we can increase the number of meat-free meals. I believe this mince will exemplify that potential.”
