Hangana Seafood, a subsidiary of Ohlthaver & List Group, has revealed it has recently installed a Contact Freezer from Starfrost in its production facility.
Hangana produces frozen hake fillets and formed hake products from fresh fish which is landed by its own fleet of trawlers. The company’s vision is to sustainably deliver quality products, and the recent acquisition will help it achieve the goal.
“We choose to work with Starfrost because of the superiority of their equipment as well as their ability to work with us, tailoring a system that has bespoke to our processes. We were looking to improve the quality of our IQF products and increase the amount we produce, as our previous system bottlenecked production,” said Pedro Sanchez, factory manager for Hangana Seafood.
According to Sanchez, the Starfrost freezing system was able to streamline processes within the factory. The machinery maintains the natural shape and appearance of IQF products, with no belt marketing, thus offering high quality and yield.
The Contact Freezer uses a thin polyethylene film conveyor belt with passes over a refrigerated plate. This makes the freezing process fast with lowest energy consumption, but also extremely hygienic.
