Italy Wins the 2020 Gelato World Cup

Italy has won the 9th Gelato World Cup, which took place during the Sigep-International Exhibition of Artisan Gelato, Confectionery and Bakery in Rimini, Italy. Japan and Argentina took the second and third places.

The Italian team which included gelato maker Eugenio Morrone, pastry chef Massimo Carnio, chef Marco Martinelli and ice sculptor Ciro Chiummo received unanimous recognition, confirmed by the votes of the, technical judges, trade press and artistic jury.

Each of the 11 teams entered the competition with a unique theme. Italy choose the “Secrets of the Forest” while Japan achieved the second place on the podium with “Flowers of music”. The winner of the third place, Argentina picked “Pirates of the Caribbean” as its theme.

The Sigep-International Exhibition of Artisan Gelato, Confectionery and Bakery took place between January 16-20.
