Lamb Weston Opens New Plant in The Netherlands

Lamb Weston has inaugurated its latest production facility in Kruiningen, Netherlands, marking a significant milestone for the company.

The opening ceremony was attended by project-involved employees, suppliers, and representatives from regional and local authorities.

This strategic investment boosts Lamb Weston’s annual production capacity by an additional 195 million kilos, addressing the escalating global appetite for premium frozen potato products. The expansion brings the Kruiningen site’s workforce to approximately 650 employees, including 120 new hires dedicated to the state-of-the-art plant.

Committed to long-term, sustainable growth, Lamb Weston initiated this expansion over five years ago. The completion of its second frozen potato facility in Kruiningen underscores the company’s enhanced production capabilities and its integration of sustainable technologies aimed at advancing potato processing and product packaging.

As a leader in the industry, Lamb Weston is pioneering new standards in design and functionality within potato production. The company maintains a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer service, collaborating closely with supply chain partners such as growers, customers, and logistics providers. The new plant is engineered for optimal raw material usage, incorporating systems for water and heat reuse to minimize emissions. Additionally, process water is purified and recycled within the facility, significantly reducing its environmental footprint.

Lamb Weston remains a key employer in the region, with its Kruiningen operations now supporting around 650 employees, including the newly recruited staff for the expanded plant.

Stephan van Kuik, senior vice president and general manager of Lamb Weston EMEA, stated, “This new factory is state-of-the-art, designed with future generations in mind; to be able to bring the world together with our fries, delivering our loved potato products to more people around the globe.”
