Messe Berlin announced that Alexander Stein, a veteran event management executive, will assume leadership of FRUIT LOGISTICA, the world’s leading fresh produce trade fair, effective February 1, 2025.
Stein, 51, succeeds Kai Mangelberger, 45, who has led the exhibition since 2021 and will now head the organization’s newly established Mobility Division.
The leadership transition comes just days before FRUIT LOGISTICA’s 2025 edition, scheduled for February 5-7 in Berlin. The event, which spans 26 exhibition halls and attracts more than 2,600 exhibitors from over 90 countries, serves as the global fresh fruit industry’s primary marketplace, covering the entire value chain from seed to retail.
Stein brings more than two decades of international trade fair expertise to the role. He joins FRUIT LOGISTICA from the ZBI Group, a Union Investment subsidiary, where he served as event management director. His previous tenure at NürnbergMesse included significant leadership roles, notably as deputy project manager of BioFach, the world’s leading organic food trade fair, and later as head of the Building & Construction department. These positions provided him with comprehensive experience in strategic planning, concept development, and sales growth for B2B events, including expertise in digital and hybrid formats.
“In my previous posts I was able to gain valuable experience at international level and got to know the trade fair industry from various perspectives – from both the organisers’ and exhibitors’ point of view,” Stein said. He expressed his commitment to further enhancing FRUIT LOGISTICA’s position as an industry cornerstone, emphasizing its role as both a networking hub and an innovation catalyst for the fresh produce sector.
