Food Security on the Gulfood Agenda

Global food security strategies are being discussed today at the World Food Security Summit, during the 20th edition of Gulfood Dubai trade fair. The conference is designed for senior industry professionals to explore strategies that encourage alliances and initiatives to tackle the challenges the food future holds. The summit brings together over 200 key principals and notable leaders from the food industry value chain to address the prevailing food security concerns of bridging the gap between supply and demand.

Investment opportunities in the GCC area, policy response to food price fluctuations and the impact of climate change on food security are among the topics discussed during today’s summit at Gulfood Dubai. Key speakers include Amin Khayyal, general manager, DuPont, Alan Smith, managing director, GCC and Pakistan, Mondelēz International, David Currie, Fishery & Aquaculture Officer, Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) and local authorities.

The 2015 edition of Gulfood marks the 20th anniversary for one of the most important international platforms for the global food trade. Taking place from 8 – 12 February 2015 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), Gulfood is also a major contributor to Dubai’s growing reputation as a global events destination and a key pillar of Dubai’s 2020 tourism vision, which aims to double the emirate’s annual visitors numbers from 10 million in 2012 to 20 million in 2020.
