The shortlist for the 2015 FreeFrom Food Awards – celebrating the best in gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and all ‘freefrom’ foods – includes a variety of cold and frozen desserts from retailers such as Asda and Tesco, as well as from companies such as Almond Dream and Jollyum.
The FreeFrom Awards include a wide list of products which do not contain ingredients that are potentially allergenic, such as gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, nut, egg, corn, as well as sugar.
The nominees are selected by a panel of judges, made of industry professionals, nutritionists and consumers. This year, the complete list of nominees includes a total of 270 products.
“With entries up by nearly 30% this year our 65 judges really had their work cut out,” says Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, director of the FreeFrom Awards who chairs the judging sessions. “But, with their usual expertise they managed to tease out the really exciting products that are currently pushing the boundaries of what you can successfully make ‘free-from.”
The winners of the 2015 FreeFrom Food Awards will be announced and presented with their certificates by Antony Worrall Thompson, at an invitation-only party in central London on April 22nd.
