Lamb Weston Unveils the Dukes – “Proper British Chips”

Lamb Weston

Lamb Weston / Meijer has unveiled its first new product for 2020 – called the Dukes of Chippingdom – Proper British Chips. As the name suggests, these are chips that are available as thick-cut sides and are made of 100% British potatoes.

According to the company, a recent consumer test revealed that almost 40% of consumers prefer chips as a side, while more than 60% said they prefer skin-on in a pub. The majority (72%) claimed to be willing to pay a bit more in a pub for a British sourced product. The study also revealed the most important attributes of a chip are a crispy outside, being thick cut with a fluffy inside and having a hand-cut appearance.

This is exactly what Lamb Weston / Meijer has tried to achieve with the new Dukes, which are crispy on the outside, even though they are non-coated, fluffy on the inside, are available with skin-off and skin-on. The chips will become available for pub operators across the land.

According to the producing company, the Dukes are gluten-free and have received the Assured Food Standards stamp of approval.
